Development of
the vineyard commenced in 1998 and the first vines were planted
in January 1999.
The vineyard is situated on
an erosion delta made up of deep granite sands and red ironstone
clays. Only varieties which achieve their maximum potential in our
climate are grown. The average rainfall is around 600 mm per annum
and the climate is similar to the northern Rhone Valley region of
France.
The varieties which have been
planted are shiraz, cabernet sauvignon, viognier, nebbiolo and merlot.
Cane and bunch thinning ensure low tonnages of premium quality grapes
and organic sprays are predominantly used. |
